Ski Retreat 2004

"Three Colleges, Two Days, One Purpose"
January 25, 2004

Students involved in World Gospel Mission's college ministries on the campuses of Asbury College, Circleville Bible College and Indiana Wesleyan University met together the weekend of January 23 & 24 for a special time of challenge, fellowship, and fun. This year's retreat was held at the Ramada Limited in Florence, Kentucky with skiing and tubing a short distance away at Perfect North Slopes in Southern Indiana. Dan Searls, WGM missionary to Hungary, delivered two challenging messages to the group.
Dan's messages dealt first with our relationship God, and then our relationships with others.  He began by challenging those of us who, though having been saved from the slavery of sin, may still be wandering in the wilderness and in need of commitment to a marriage relationship with God, abiding in His Promised Land.  Just as many of the Israelites looked across the Jordan and saw giants in the Land, many look with fear at the price of fully surrendering.  Once making that commitment though, many believe their lives will be struggle free. Dan warned that just as the children of Israel faced Jericho's in their Promised Land we are going to face similar enemies which attempt to invade the place of our heart that belongs to the Lord.

Saturday morning Dan's second message was a challenge to consider our lives as seed in need of planting so that we might produce fruit.  The planting process might be dirty, uncomfortable and downright scary, but the choice to "remain on the shelf" would deny the Lord the ability to reproduce our lives into more souls won for His Kingdom.
In between our times of corporate worship and sessions with Dan, students enjoyed fellowship with each other and members of WGM's staff including VIA Coordinator, Meg Gettinger, Task Force Coordinator Shushan Richardson, and missionaries Randy and Peggy West (Special Assignment) and Chrissy Greenwell (Mexico).

The Lord blessed us with an injury-free day of skiing, in spite of record-attendance-sized crowds at the slopes.  Many left with new friendships, a renewed spirit, and some even a new direction.

If you were in attendance, we would appreciate your feedback!
