Dear friends and family,
It is hard to believe, but today is our last day in Argentina. We
have seen God work in some amazing ways in our time here both in the
ministry opportunities that we have had and in ourselves. We have
"plowed" some new fields and have "watered" some
others, and we are relying on God for the harvest.
Yesterday we traveled to a German town out in the mountains outside
of Cordoba. The last 30 miles of the trip were on dirt roads because
even though it is a tourist area, they want to make it a little
difficult for tourists to get there so they can retain its original,
quaint atmosphere. In the town itself, the only cars allowed are those
of the residents. After walking around and doing some shopping, we ate
in a restaurant that had a beautiful view of the mountains. We burned
off our lunch with a long hike to a waterfall where I think several of
us would have jumped in if we had clothes to change into. We returned to
Cordoba for a festive dinner hosted by a family from the church. We ate
until we were very full and then had the pleasure of listening to some
wonderful live Argentine music. Our hosts were surprised that we were
"leaving so soon" when at midnight, we said that we had to go.
They would have loved for us to stay until 3 or 4 AM (the Argentines are
famous for their late nights). They wanted to teach us some folk dancing
and do some more singing, but with our busy day today, and the start of
our 20+ hour trip back, we were more than ready for bed.
This morning we are headed out to do some shopping downtown. For many
of us, this is the first time we have had to look for some nice things
to take home for souvenirs and gifts. We only have two short hours as we
have to be back by noon for lunch and then out the door at 1 PM for the
airport!
This trip has gone so quickly. Thanks for all your prayers! We'll try
to let you know of our safe return as soon as we get back to Kentucky!
Take care,
The Argentina team
