Bolivia 2000
Dear family and friends,
We thought we were sore yesterday, but despite today's hard labor we
worked through our soreness and got a lot done. Tons of earth and rocks have been moved some by hand, some by pick, some by shovel, and some by the
tiny Bolivian children who "helped" us. Another truckload of tiles arrived today and we hope to be able to lay the tile in the sanctuary tomorrow AM.
We are nearly finished with digging out the basement. The digging has taught us a lot about team work and perseverance. There have been rocks
that have taken all the strength of four or five of us to move. (One such rock is pictured in the attachment.)
We were treated to another wonderful Bolivian lunch this afternoon, and we have become pros at eating oranges "the Bolivian way." We have been
impressed with the hospitality of our Bolivian hosts, and they have been impressed with how much we work--"even the girls!"
Tonight we are going to be involved in a church service above where we
have been digging all day, and tomorrow we are looking forward to going to a Compassion International Center and working with the children there.
Your prayers have been evident, and other than a few blisters and some
red faces, we are doing very well.
