English Lesson
The drawing card for the students coming to camp is the fact that they will be
learning English from native speakers. The English lessons attempted to teach some of the more
difficult parts of the English language like subject/verb agreement and other
difficult grammatical rules. When explaining grammar rules our team found
that the hardest question to answer was "Why?"
"Because it sounds right," was never good enough. The Hungarian
translators on staff often had to take the "Why" question by
explaining verb tenses and the rules that go with them. At times it was embarrassing!
The native English speakers were valuable in helping with pronunciation and
conversation. This combined with the grammar helped to give a well rounded
English education.
