“The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me; your love,
O LORD, endures forever-do not abandon the works of
your hands.” Psalm 138:8

September 2000
Dear Friends,
As I was on the first flight towards Budapest at the
beginning of the summer, Jesus met me with this promise…He would fulfill His purpose for me. Ignorant
as to what exactly that promise was, I traveled on in faith believing. Now I am back in America and
starting my junior year at Asbury College. With that reality comes classes and work and a whole new set of
responsibilities, as well as ministry opportunities. I look back at Hungary and I have a peace in my heart
that He did fulfill His purpose up to this point. Maybe it was the sweet ladies I prayed with to ask
Jesus in their hearts, or maybe the hours I spent playing with Dan and Katy Beth’s precious girls, or
was it the crazy camp activities? There are so many things He did and was faithful with. Was His purpose
the lifelong friendships I made with the Hungarian staff at the camps, or possibly to encourage the
missionaries I worked with on a daily basis? Jesus knows His purpose and promises it is being fulfilled.
I say that knowing He is continuing even in this
moment to work. The verse concludes with the sweet promise that He will not abandon the work of His
hands. He continues to mold and shape me as each day passes by.
Allow me to share with you a quickly a brief summary
of my two months full of growth and challenge that were made possible because of your faithfulness to
share with me in carrying out the Great Commission. I
participated in three English camps. I played silly games, sang crazy camp songs, talked with kids and
just gave Jesus’ love. The students came expecting only to learn English, not to find their Savior.
Before they left, many realized their lives would never again be the same again. Jesus met us; He
worked through us; He broke us and used us in spite of our many weaknesses. He was faithful day after day.
Between the camps, I spent my time in Budapest in the Searls’ home. Jesus taught me so much by their godly
example. It was more than I ever could have asked for. He knew just what I needed.
He is not abandoning the works of His hands. He is amazing! What He continually met me with this summer
was the sweet fact that when we are available and trusting Him, He can and will move mountains.
Dearest friends, may He move mountains in your life
as you entrust them all to the work of His hands. Thank you so incredibly much for allowing me to be
faithful in His calling to Hungary, by sharing your love through your prayers and financial support. He
truly has redeemed all you sacrificed and I know eternity will be different, because of your work in
building His Kingdom! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
In His Hands,
Joanna
