PNG Team 2005

Dear Friends and Family,

Today was another amazing day down here in the southern hemisphere. We had another “question and answer” session with the Bible college students. The girls gathered at the Bennett’s house. We talked about various problems in the churches and then we showed them some videos of American weddings—which they loved. The men stayed at the Bible College, talking about topics ranging from sanctification to baptism to a variety of other cultural issues. Surprisingly, the men’s session lasted much longer than the women’s.

After our discussion time, we went back to work in the dirt. While Meg and some of the Bible school students worked on the last of the landscaping, the rest of the team continue digging the latrine. As of this afternoon, we are around seven feet down—great progress for the amount of time we have had to spend on it.

Tonight’s youth camp service would, by itself, been worth the whole trip. Despite the power outage during the altar call, we could all feel the presence of God. Many came down and many stayed.    Tomorrow we have the privilege of having a “mumu”—a traditional PNG feast/celebration. The meat, vegetables, etc will be cooked in a fire pit that is then buried for several hours. We are all looking forward to this new experience. J

Please continue to pray for us as we finish our youth camp tomorrow night and thank you for all your prayers and support thus far. Love, Lisette and the PNG team

PS> Stephanie is feeling much better, some of it due to the fact that she is in basketball shorts and not a skirt right now. J  Thanks for your prayers.
