Dear Family and Friends,
Yesterday (Saturday) was
our MuMu. We watched as
large rocks were heated
over a wood fire and a
hole in the ground was
lined with banana
leaves. When the rocks
were hot enough, the men
used split bamboo tongs
to pick up the rocks and
line the hole. More
leaves were added and
then lots of sweet
potatoes and chicken
then more leaves then
corn and veggies, then
more leaves and rocks
and finally grass to
cover it all. The plan
was to return in 2 or so
hours to have an
official MuMu and eat
the food right out of
the hole, BUT the rain
had other ideas. After
trying to wait out the
rain which ultimately
lasted well past
midnight. The MuMu was
moved indoors as 6 large
wash buckets of food
were brought into the
Bennett’s house. We ate
until we were stuffed
and then lounged around
talking until the
evening service.
Mark did an excellent
job speaking about “the
harvest is plentiful but
the workers are few.”
He talked about each
Christian’s call to work
in their own gardens
(home, work, school…)
and that some of us are
called to go beyond our
own gardens to the
world. Several people
came forward to make
commitments to work in
God’s harvest.
This morning we will be
with the whole church
and the youth will be
presenting the songs
they learned. Then I
(Nathan) will be
speaking. There are
many youth who came
whose parents don’t
attend the church. Pray
that they will bring
their parents today and
that hearts will be
soft.
Thanks for your prayers,
Nathan for the Team
